I will be there as well. This one really sucks.

So let's say after several minutes the pushups start to take a minute, what then? If I understand correctly the first minute we run, then let's say 20 pushups takes 20 seconds. We run for 40 seconds and twenty more, right? I assume that is "every minute on the minute." This could take a while. I guess I am wondering what happens when you get up over 200 pushups and it takes 60 seconds. Sounds fun though. I will be there in the morning, but I am trying to get my watch set up now.

let me tell you a true story...I did this last summer and I hit the point that Gary was talking about; and I still had about a lap to go...I scaled. I did push ups from my knees. That was the only time I've ever had to do 'knee' push ups. I was even considering doing 10 push ups for the last 200m while doing them from my knees. Maybe I had a bad day, maybe I was just weak, maybe this WOD just has my number. This WOD broke me off!!

Sounds awesome. I am looking forward to giving it the old college try.

I'll bring my camera so I can snap photos of Rob doing knee push-ups.

i'm heading over after allison gets back - should be there by 0650...anyone up for starting btw 0700 and 0710? if so - see you there.

Yeah, this one definitely sucks. Been where Rob was as well...and yep, had to scale to knees.

I'll be doing my own version of this at the airfield. Except it will be AMRepsAP of pushups in two minutes, rest 10 minutes, AMRepsAP of non-abmat (or even ab-testing) situps in two minutes, rest 10 minutes, and 1 RFT of run 2 miles.

At 0445. I don't like my staff group APFT guy...er, "Athletic Coordinator."

13:57 yesterday @ 1600-ish, Thanks Scott for dragging me around the track!!

8:58 (I think). My interval timer was interrupted somewhere around the sixth time I "fell" to the ground to do 20 mmphfkneeachoo pushups. Did 20 more at the finish just to make sure all was legit.

Mostly Skills & drills, with lots of stretching this week. New PR for linked DU this morning with SEVEN!! Looking forward to hitting the games WOD tomorrow!

9:50 this morning. James was out in front, it helped having someone to chase.

9.18 - so good to be back with the crew - a few days of working out alone reminds you of all the advantages of a Crossfit group.

8:48. I scaled this one b/c of the burpees from yesterday and I wanted to keep my run going as fast as possible. I did 15 PU for first five min (min 1-5)and then 10 PU for last three min (6-8). I couldn't imagine doing all 20. GOOD WOD!!!

Kay said...

I think 12 min for this WOD, scaled by starting out with knee push-ups, then ending with hip push-ups; I'm sure I looked really lame, but even with scaled PU, I was reaching muscle failure.

Gary said...

13:39 I definitely felt the burpees from yesterday. I did the first 3 rounds with 20 PU then 15 for round 4 and 10 for the rest. The 15 had the last 5 from my knees so I made the call to go to ten. It wiped me out for sure. I came home and used my new jump rope to set a PR with 6 consecutive DU's. Mostly just to try and show my wife the 30 dollar jump rope was worth the price. Thanks Kay.

I got jammed up at the start this morning screwing with my watch. I wish I could have covered more ground on the first run. It might have saved a round of pushups. It was fun doing this with the group, even though I was the slow guy today. I think this workout has refocussed me in some weird way though.

Noah, I got the message from Lisa about going for a bike ride on Friday at 1400. I will be there. . . with my mountain bike. Its heavy, but I have pedalled it for numerous rides. I think I like the challenge.

7:47--a 45 sec improvement since last time we did this one. missed the morning crew, I was solo in my house with our eldest so couldn't get out in the am.

Congrats to Greg on his significant APFT improvement! i'm just a bit disappointed he's not more into CrossFit.

Get ready for Fri Team WOD--working title: "The Dennis Hopper"

For anyone interested...Gary and I are meeting in the Harney Parking Lot at 1400 this Friday for a leisurely 12.6 mile bike ride around the base. We are covering the route for the CGSC mini Tri 8 days later. Even if you're not doing the Tri come out if you want, we are not looking to set any land speed records.

Didn't come anywhere close to touching James's APFT score...

67 pushups, 78 situps, 12:34 run...

Pretty shameful scores. I think I need to go back to doing more bodyweight workouts. I've been focusing a lot on lifting recently.

Andrew said...

right at 11:00...dropped to 15 pu for the last 5. sprinted the last 200+ yards to avoid another set of pu...

with a change of sched for spring 2electives, i'm probably going to go back to a 0700/0710(3-2-1 go) WOD - works out best for the fam. i know daryl and noah usually wod then, and scott was there this morning too. if that time works well for anyone else - we'll be there and would love to grow the group - so come join us.

I'm a delinquent poster this week, so I'll catch up real quick...

Monday: Nancy...first round as rx'd, but then scaled rounds 2-5 to 75# OHS...15:21.

Tuesday: Games WOD...total of 88 reps.

Wednesday: Needed a little break so focused on some mobility stuff.

Get pumped for the Team WOD this Friday...Jim's got some serious abuslix up his sleeve.

APFT this morning.

72 Pushups (no change)
83 Situps (+5, I think)
14:11 Run (about the same; can't remember my run time)
290 overall points; exact same score as my last.

Overall, I'm happy (not satisfied). Pushups are always my goat...followed closely by my run. The important part of the situps is that I just kept a pretty constant rhythm, never having to rest (I did 45 in the first minute...slowed, but didn't stop, in the second).

That I didn't train for the APFT - no running, situps, or pushups outside of the regular IMCF programming but still did well - and better than in the past when I DID train for the APFT - is a testament to the efficacy of CrossFit in general and IMCF programming specifically.
